Pandemic Paragraph: Staying connected through the written word during an age of Social Distancing

Leo on writing

It’s a bit early to be running out of things to do during a National Emergency but here we are. I’ve already caught up on all my laundry, made cookies, fried up an entire package of bacon, and rendered a double batch of chicken broth. That was all on day one. With the closure of the Wellness Center on day two, in an effort to stay Covid Fit, I took to the streets. I was surprised at how much traffic there was in my neighborhood. Don’t these people understand we’re having a pandemic? In order to cheer myself while I ran, I created a playlist in which the first song is REM’s “It’s the End of the World as we Know It (And I Feel Fine).” I am open to further submissions. On day three I sharpened all the pencils in the house, polished every zipper I could find, and vacuumed the stairs … again. Now I’m thinking about opening a carwash in my driveway, but I can’t get to the hose in my shed yet because of all the snow. I hope this doesn’t last too long.
